Mini-blog 1: What are the current plans for the website’s future

🗡️ Heads up: this is not a proper essay. The mini-blog is meant for less serious, shorter entries – it’s just a place to share thoughts quickly and without much effort. Do not expect us to put effort into whatever it is we share here, effortposting belongs in essays.
Will new blog entries be showing up often? No. Absolutely not. Sorry, but just… no. As far as I’m concerned, the next one might end up being posted after 6 months or years have passed. The mini-blog space is free from any kind of responsibility or expectations, and that includes the expectation for it to be frequently updated.
Having said this, I’ve been meaning to write down what’s in the plans for the website now that it’s pretty much fully built and has everything we had planned to include in here. We will keep updating the library and resources tabs whenever we remember or find something we consider interesting enough to put in there, once in a while we will share a new piece of writing or two, but besides that…
Well, there’s only so much that can be done. We’re pretty much satisfied with how this website works right now, I don’t even know what else we could start tinkering with. (From the very beginning we had decided that this website’s layout was going to be relatively simple for the comfort of reading and browsing it; we could add a bunch of useless widgets and gifs, make it really unique-looking, but that would come at the cost of accessibility. Even if it could be a fun coding exercise, we won’t be doing that. There are also things like comments or a guestbook that many people would consider worthy of adding, but we’re opposed to having them on our website – it’s just a matter of personal comfort.1)
But!
Ambitiously, we’ve been considering translating the entire website to our native language, Polish. That is an idea that will undoubtedly take a lot of effort, so don’t expect to see it being implemented anytime soon, but it will almost certainly happen at some point. …But also, we’re still at the stage of planning it out: how far do we go? Should we, for example, go back and translate old essays into Polish too?
(I think, personally, that it might be a better idea to have English writing remain in English and simply start sharing Polish writing every now and then too, without needing to translate either. Set up two separate RSS feeds and all that. Otherwise we’ll burn out extremely quickly.)
Either way, a translated version of the website will probably show up in the future (won’t be announcing it’s being worked on until it’s finished though). For now there’s the Polish library, for sharing articles and videos in Polish.
We’re also planning to add dark mode, but we’ve been having some difficulties with it, so it might take more time than expected. I don’t like half-assing things – until we figure out how to do it properly, no dark mode is better than shitty dark mode. Sorry you have to wait.
At some point we might also put a gallery of our art somewhere… but this idea is way less likely to be implemented than dark mode or Polish translation. If the gallery does end up being created, it’ll be placed somewhere in the creations menu. We will announce it too.
But also, since this is a blog, with no rules and all, I’ll allow myself to say this: currently I’m primarily focused on beating Kingdom Two Crowns: Call of Olympus, possibly at least twice, so don’t expect me2 to be working on the site’s code until I’m done with that. I can only feel interested in one hobby at a time ❤️
1 Our personal website is the last place where we want to have to moderate potential harassment against us for being queer/plural/whatever else. I realize this choice impacts well-meaning people who would simply like to have a civilized discussion with us here, but yeah. I hope you understand.
2 I’m the main ‘coding guy’ in this head, so unless anyone else decides they’re in the mood to get their metaphorical hands dirty, implementing dark mode and maaaaybe the gallery is gonna be my job. And it’s simply not my priority right now lol.
