Monthly library update: November
Date published: 2024.11.30
Unfortunately falling sick made us unable to finish translating the whole website before the end of the month, so the Polish version of Ignes Fatui is not yet live – but this month’s library update was already written with two language versions in mind, so two versions there will be.
This link will lead you to the Polish update. Unless you can’t speak Polish and therefore don’t give a fuck about Polish articles & videos, in which case ignore it and just focus on this one.
Articles and essays 📰
The Pagan and Occult Fascist Connection and How to Fix It
An absolutely necessary read if you’re interested in pagan religions and practices in any shape or form. You need to know how to spot white nationalist ideologies in your community, and most importantly, you need to be aware that they’re there at all.
The Myth of the 25-Year-Old Brain
No, brains don’t finish developing at age 25.
Video essays 🎥
I Debunked Every "Body Language Expert" on Youtube
Video essay about the body language pseudoscience.
Who is Yahweh - How a Warrior-Storm God became the God of the Israelites and World Monotheism
This one is SO interesting! Don’t worry, the video is not disrespectful of Abrahamic religions – it’s strictly academic.
The Strange Reality of Roller Coaster Tycoon
Another video game essay. This one’s pretty short.
Art 🎨

A collection of old Polish match labels!
Szpakowski’s single line mazes

They’re neat.
Music 🎵
Not in the mood to be describing the albums this month tbh, just check them out on your own!<3
Latter Days – Blaudzun
Earthworks – Ritual Dust
hrajžemi – DIS IS MARKĒTA – a REALLY good Slovak folk album
De Profundis – The Secession
Books 📘
The Panic Button Book – Tammi Kirkness
A very short and simple self-help book consisting of many step-by-step exercises that might be useful depending on what you’re struggling with. Some of the breathing exercises have been quite helpful for us.
Mangas 📗
(Mangas are in the Books section because most of the time they are, well, books. Even if you read them online.)
First fantasy manga since finishing Dungeon Meshi that has given us this feeling of “oh, this is some high quality dungeon fantasy”. The art style is amazing, and the manga is still ongoing and only 1 year old – as of now it has only 12 chapters translated into English available online (although they are quite long chapters). You should definitely check it out.
Games 🎮
It gets so lonely here (and its
sequel)

Found this little yuri visual novel. It’s free! And pretty enjoyable to spend an evening playing. (Mind the content warnings if you decide to give it a try though)
Surprisingly not as good as we’d expected it to be (am I allowed to say that? lol) but still fun to play. Very glad we got it on sale though. The visuals are gorgeous and the idea for the game is very unique, but the gameplay gets repetitive and boring very fast. After having beaten half of the game playing it started to feel a bit like a chore.

Other things we’d like to share
This month this section is allll tech.
The unfortunate torment of having to translate the entire website into our native language has forced us to give Visual Studio Code another try. Thankfully we managed to find the
Live Preview extension, and after that writing code in it became actually… pleasant? Actually, the preview is even nicer than
the previous one we had been using. How unexpected…

We’ve also switched from using Firefox to Vivaldi. You might ask why –
we don’t like the direction Mozilla has chosen (this + the AI crap) and don’t want to support it anymore, simple as. Sure, Vivaldi is Chromium, but at this point it’s really whatever.
(Zen browser seems potentially cool too, but since it’s in alpha right now, we’re not switching to it just yet. Maybe we’ll give it a try in a few months or so.)
Vivaldi was a bit confusing to set up at first because it’s so different from both Firefox and Brave (which are the browsers we have the most experiences with). After some tweaking it’s surprisingly pleasant to use though. Now it feels more comfy than Firefox.
& we’ve decided to give MusicBee another try! It can look quite good. The first time we’d tried it the design felt very cluttered and claustrophobic, but now that we’ve tweaked it a lot, it’s quite nice.

Hopefully with time it’ll prove to be less buggy than Nora, which is definitely prettier and less claustrophobic, but required us to either solve all the bugs on our own or join a fucking Discord server, because of course everything is hidden behind a Discord invite. At least for MusicBee there is support available on the Internet.
