2024.12.18 Website update: Polish version of the website is now live!
Phew. This was time-consuming. It even forced me to start working in VS Code again instead of just rawdogging it in the Nekoweb code editor! But yes: the Polish version of this very website now exists. In fact, it’s here.
It has a separate RSS feed, so if you don’t speak Polish you won’t be getting notified about Polish content, don’t worry. The library updates are also going to be separated by language of the resources I’m sharing unless something makes me think you might be interested in the Polish book/article anyways. (For example because I’m willing to translate it for you. Or fragments of it.)
The task of translating the entire website has quickly proven to be way too overwhelming, so I had to give up on some more ambitious ideas (for example, no – I’m not able to translate all of the past essays into Polish. It’s too tiring and ends up sounding bad). Polish Ignes Fatui has way less content than the English one, although hopefully with time I’ll fill it with Polish-exclusive content that won’t be available on the English version, and then it’ll even out eventually.
The only page I decided to leave in English only was treasury, mostly because I really don’t want to have to bother with updating two versions of it whenever I find a cool button I like. There’s barely any text anyways, it’s a purely visual page for appreciating our dumb indieweb pics collection. I don’t think the entire nation of Poland is going to collapse because this one page is not translated.
Anyways. If you’re not a Polish speaker, then this update is absolutely meaningless to you. If you are one, then there’s another RSS feed for you to subscribe to here.
I wish I had some cool code stuff to share with you like in the previous update, but I don’t think I do. This took so much time but it was mostly translation work.
As a fun piece of trivia though – I almost decided to go the more complicated JavaScript route instead of creating separate pages for the Polish version of the website. It’d definitely be cool and I’d have so much stuff to explain here, but… it was unnecessary. And I had enough trouble forcing myself to finish the work on this as is, adding more difficulty just to show off my coding skills was not worth it.
Sometimes I think setting up a website was a mistake. Did you know I have a lyre? ^_^ It’s sooooo cool and epic. I’ve already tried to write a blog post about it twice but the unfinished Polish translation sucked all the joy out of having a website made me have less energy for writing blog posts and essays and whatnot!
